16. Is a Canadian offer of employment required in order for a candidate to qualify as a Federal Skilled Worker?
An offer of employment is not required in order to qualify under the Skilled Worker category of Canadian immigration. Arranged Employment, however, may be a determining factor in a candidate's eligibility to enter the Express Entry pool. Moreover, candidates with a qualifying job offer of arranged employment supported by a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment are awarded 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System and will be invited to apply for permanent residence at a subsequent draw from the pool.
